Are you passionate about your community? Do you want to help make a long-lasting change? Do you have innovative ideas for the council? Do you have concerns about a specific issue and want to do something about it? If this is you, then we need you.
We need someone from any background or experience who reflects their community to put themselves forward for co-option to the Parish Council.
Following the resignation of Jason Harper the Parish Council is seeking to co-opt a new councillor for the New Heath Hayes Ward.
No special qualification is required to be a councillor and it is important that the council has all sorts of people as councillors to so that all parts of the community are represented. Training for new councillors is also available to help you understand the responsibilities of the role.

To be considered you need to complete the application form available from the clerk by email and also attend the meeting on the full council at 6.30pm on Wednesday 16th October. The council will then decide on the co-option at their November meeting.

Ward: Heath Hayes and Wimblebury P.C. - Wimblebury
Number of Councillors to be elected: One
1. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Civic Centre, Beecroft Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 1BG between 10 am and 4 pm on any working day from Tuesday, 11th July, 2023 (excluding weekends and bank holidays) but no later than 4 pm on Friday, 14th July 2023.
2. Nomination papers may be obtained from the offices of the Returning Officer, Civic Centre, Beecroft Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 1BG, during the times stated above.
3. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 10th August 2023.
4. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday, 25th July, 2023. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote .
5. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Civic Centre, Beecroft Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 1BG by 5 pm on Wednesday, 26th July 2023.
6. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector's Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Civic Centre, Beecroft Road, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 1BG by 5 pm on Wednesday, 2nd August 2023. Notice of Casual Vacancy
LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1972 (sec. 87(2))
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a casual vacancy has occurred in the office of Councillor for Heath Hayes & Wimblebury Parish Council following the resignation of Cllr C Harborow on the 22nd May 2023.
Ten local government electors for the Parish from the Wimblebury Ward may request the Returning Officer to hold an election to fill the vacancy. That request must be made within fourteen days excluding dies non.
The fourteen-day notice period ends 5pm on the 12th June 2023
The Proper Officer is: The Returning Officer, Cannock Chase District Council, Civic Centre, Beecroft Road, Cannock WS11 1BG.
If a request to hold an election is not received during the permitted time period the Parish Council must, as soon as practicable after the expiry of the fourteen-day period, co-opt a person to fill the vacancy.

This will allow individuals, businesses and other organisations to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate Her reign, while marking the final day of the period of national mourning.

On behalf of Heath Hayes & Wimblebury Parish Council and the residents of the Parish, it was with great sadness with which we received the news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. Our condolences go out to The King, The Queen Consort and the Royal family. Our thoughts are with them during this sad time. Queen Elizabeth II has served our country with both distinction and honour throughout her long and distinguished life, and as our monarch for the past 70 years.
Councillor Martyn Buttery, Chairman of Heath Hayes & Wimblebury Parish Council said: "I am deeply saddened by the news of Queen Elizabeth II's passing, her life was dedicated to serving our country and was truly inspirational. I am, as I'm sure everyone is, extremely grateful for her lifelong dedication to our nation. May she rest in peace."

Signing books of condolence
There will be a book of condolence in the Chase Room at the Civic Centre, Beecroft Road, Cannock for residents to sign and leave their brief messages of condolence, as from 10am on Saturday (10 September).
The Civic Centre is open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 10am to 4pm. In addition there are two evening sessions where you will be able to sign the book of condolence; on Tuesday 13 September and Thursday 14 September between 6pm and 8pm. Anyone who would like to add a message to the book of condolence at the Civic Centre but is unable to do so in person, can email their brief message of condolence to civic@cannockchasedc.gov.uk or send it by post to Civic, Cannock Chase Council, Beecroft Road, Cannock WS11 1BG.
There is also a national book of condolence to leave messages at the Monarchy's website www.royal.gov.uk
The local book of condolence will eventually be added to the Staffordshire Archives, while the national book will be part of the National Archives.
Floral tributes
Floral tributes can be left in the following locations:
- In Cannock - on the Lawns of St. Luke's Church
- In Hednesford - around the Clock at the top of Market Street
- In Rugeley - on the Lawns of St. Augustine's Church
- In Heath Hayes – outside of Hayes Green Community Centre around the Beacon
Proclamation of the new King
Across the nations, ceremonies will be taking place to proclaim the new King (King Charles III). On the steps leading to the entrance to the Civic Centre in Beecroft Road In Cannock, this will see the Chairman of Cannock Chase District Council read out an official Proclamation for the new Monarch, attended by the Deputy Lieutenant of Staffordshire, the Leader of the Council, and the Deputy Chief Executive.
This historic moment, which residents will be welcome to attend, is scheduled to take place at 2.30pm on Sunday 11 September. It will last about 15 minutes. The national anthem will be played for God Save the King.
